Hello few people who may read this blog

Hi. I’m Claire. I don’t really expect a lot of people to look at this, but oh well. Here is a blog. It’s for whatever I’m thinking or feeling at any moment. Here, I plan to share the weird ups and downs of recovery and, by extension, of life. Enjoy.

  1. Hi Claire,
I loved reading your blog. I was bullied in middle school for exactly the same reasons. , That was many years ago and eating disorders weren’t recognized. I spent most of my high school years binging or starving, all the while suffering from severe anxiety. My home life was awful and it wasn’t until I was in my early 20s when my mom passed that I got into therapy and was able to find some answers. Fast forward many years…I married and raised a wonderful child who is now a grad student at DePaul! Life has been good. I still have body image issues, but I’m happy to tell you that none of that dominates my life in any way. I eat 5 or 6 times a day, small portions…one of my recovery tools, was to learn that hunger pangs are not my friend. (For some reason, hunger pangs bring on feelings of anxiousness.) I exercise 4 or 5 times a week and that helps keep my anxiety at bay. Keep in mind through all your struggles that recovery is a process…there are ups and downs. I truly wish you the best in your journey! Keep up the good work.

    1. hi Carole!
While I’m so sorry to hear that you had to live with an eating disorder for so many years, however I’m incredibly glad to hear that you’re in a positive place in your recovery. It’s funny to hear that your child goes to DePaul–so do I! Anyway, thank you so much for reaching out; your kind words are truly inspiring and it’s always so wonderful to hear from people who both understand and can offer support.
